The Faithfulness of God: What does that really mean?

What it means:

  1. God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
  2. God never reverses nor backs out of His promises
  3. God's promises have a 100% Divine Guarantee
  4. God will fulfill 100% of His part in His covenant relationship with His people. However, we need to fulfill 100% of our part or it negates the covenant promises.
  5. We can therefore, CLAIM with confidence His promises when we constantly abide in Him
  6. We can therefore, TRUST anything that God says if we are living the Kingdom life consistently.
  7. The word of God remains forever. 1 Peter 1:24-25
What it does not mean:
  1. God exercises faith. Nope. He exercises SIGHT!
  2. God is loyal to us even if we ignore Him or take him for granted. Loyalty is a different subject. It has nothing to do with the faithfulness of God
  3. God will fulfill his promises even if we do not walk with Him as he expects. We have already broken the covenant in this case, so we are subject to discipline or even incarceration, the very opposite of the promises sometimes.
  4. God is good all the time. No way! Look what he did to his people, Israel when they stopped walking with him. He had them killed and exiled.
Next time you read David or the other psalms worship God because "His [steadfast, unfailing covenant] love endures forever and his FAITHFULNESS to all generations", you can fully appreciate what that means.
