Hermeneutics and Women Preachers and Leaders in Church

[Note: The following is a short response to another blog on complementarianism]

1 Corinthians 11 on head coverings for both male and female are NOT being followed even by fundamentalists and reformed churches and Southern Baptist churches.

Yet, Paul argued for this practice using "theology" too v.8. Paul also used "instinct" to reason  this out in v. 13-14 citing how shameful it is NOT to practice head coverings and veils.

INCIDENTALLY, v.4, at the very least, assumes that women prophesied (preached/taught) to THE WHOLE CHURCH in the early church!

So with this same argument, why do complementarians cherry-pick 1 Timothy 2 to argue their cause when there is another passage (like 1 Corinthians 11) with their same kind of faulty hermeneutics which they DISOBEY without argument and are also decidedly silent on!

I used to be complementarian myself until I realized that such position paralyzes half of the people of God to fulfill the Great Commission in FULL FORCE and cannot be the "contradictory" mind of Christ.

The society and culture was decidedly male chauvinistic during Paul's time so any command related to male chauvinism was cultural in context. Hermeneutics based on word study alone without the plenary and complete revelation of Scripture will always have contradictions because the Bible author (the Holy Spirit) is intelligent and wise. Any human synthesis or hermeneutic method should yield no contradiction but more confirmation from the context of Scripture most especially the timeline context (progressive revelation).

Passages such as this are descriptive and NOT prescriptive. That position removes all contradictions.

By the way, leadership in the church is NOT at all similar to leadership in marriage, and that is the greatest confusion on debates on this issue. In the same way, how I would treat my neighbor should be Christ-like but if I were president of the USA, I would be nationalistic and put America FIRST even if I have to order troops to kill, in the same way that God told Israel to do the same and not compromise with its neighboring countries. The CONTEXTs for both are NOT THE SAME. Church vs. Marriage have different contexts, Individual vs. National have different contexts.

Common sense Bible interpretation which is NOT SO COMMON in the western church!
