What the early Christians believed about the Kingdom of God.
This is the 3rd of a series on What the early Christians believed and practiced.
This informative series is a good foundation to check our personal and present beliefs.
For who really is in the position to understand the New Testament other than those early disciples and apostolic fathers. They had the rare privilege of being mentored by the Apostles as well as ask clarifications on their writings.
We will discover in this study that much of present day evangelism and preaching is anemic or incomplete because they talk about the King but neglect to talk about His Kingdom and its laws.
Can we live with one foot in the Kingdom of God and another in the Kingdom of this world? (Read James 4:4 from the book that Martin Luther himself tried to disparage or suppress) Are we even aware that we are actually living "mostly" in the wrong kingdom...the kingdom of this world or the kingdom of darkness? Do we know the grave consequences of continuing to live in the wrong kingdom?
This Deep Dive covers the Scriptural background of the Kingdom of God. In a subsequent session, we will look at many of the writings of the Apostolic fathers about the Kingdom of God, how they understood this doctrine and how they applied it to their lives.
