OUR FAITH VS. that of THE APOSTOLIC FATHERS 002

Deep Dive January 10, 2021 - What the early Christians believed about Salvation

The book of Galatians and the Apostolic fathers condemned IN WRITING any innovations or "new doctrine" aside from the "faith delivered ONCE AND FOR ALL to the saints (Jude 3)". Many will be surprised that much of what we believe today are actually "new doctrine" which could be a matter of eternal life or eternal death to us. This Sunday, we discussed and analyzed what the early Christians believed about Salvation.

If what we know is actually "new doctrine" or "new gospel" we would be in danger of losing eternal life. Hopefully, after viewing the discussion, we should be able to know for sure from Scripture THE WAY THE FIRST CHRISTIANS UNDERSTOOD it, if we are truly saved or not.

Galatians 1:8-9

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Tertullian

“In the Lord's apostles we possess our authority; for even they did not of themselves choose to introduce anything, but faithfully delivered to the nations (of mankind) the doctrine which they had received from Christ. If, therefore, even " an angel from heaven should preach any other gospel " (than theirs), he would be called accursed by us.
