The Faulty Hermeneutics of Complementarianism 2

Sometimes we get tired of this especially since much of my blogs contain a negative tone or censure against those who abuse hermeneutics by being either inconsistent or dishonest.

"Women should keep silent in the churches". 1 Corinthians 14:34

Like all statements of St. Paul, these are well-intentioned but we there are at least 2,000 years of time difference, language differences, bible translation differences, etc where the context of the original writing has been blurred.  We have already pointed out the following:

  1.  Paul's writings are not as infallible as Christ's when it comes to non-doctrinal issues.
  2. The interpretations of Paul's writings should never contradict any revealed truth in the Jewish Bible or old testament.
  3. Paul has to be understood as a Jew first before analyzing his writings as addressed to the gentiles.
  4. Others (see blogs on The Faulty Hermeneutics of Complementarianism, A Critique on Alistair Begg's support for Complementarianism, etc)
This blog is short but to the point. Again, I apologize for any sarcasm but I DO mean it!

Now that same passage in verse 39 declares in the imperative, "do not forbid speaking in tongues".  Hmmm, as far as I can recall ONLY those same denominations that follow verse 34 actually (even adamantly) intentionally violate verse 39!!! Where is the bias? Where is the fairness? Where is the objectivity? Where is the HONESTY?!!!

So, Christian, beware who you listen to! In fact, research the history of your denomination and its impact on the culture and society!
